Camera Exercise Evaluation

AS Media Studies – Written Assignment

Your task is to critically assess the success of your first practical assignment and write a detailed analysis of the decisions you made.

It is vital to learn from your mistakes so the most important aspect of this assignment is acknowledge where you made mistakes and how you could avoid them next time
  • Start by explaining the story you were trying to tell
  • Did you include all of the listed shot types and camera movements, if not, why not?
  •  Carefully explain the “thinking” behind each shot
o   Why did you choose to use a particular shot type?
o   Why did you choose to use a movement to show a particular character or action?
o   Were your choices successful and why/why not?
  • ·        Critically assess your own technical capabilities.
o   Did you hold the shot steady?
o   Did you frame each shot appropriately?
  • ·        Overall
o   What are the most positive elements of your film (what did you do well?)
o   Where in your film would you need to make improvements?
