AS Media Studies – Sound Exercise Evaluation

Your task is to critically assess the success of your sound exercise assignment and write a detailed analysis of the decisions you made.
It is vital to learn from your mistakes so the most important aspect of this assignment is acknowledge where you made mistakes and how you could avoid them next time.
·        Start by explaining the sequence you filmed
·        Did you include all the listed sound techniques? If not, why not?

·        Carefully explain the ‘thinking’ behind each shot demonstrating a particular sound technique
o   Why did you choose to use a particular technique?
o   Were your choices successful and why/why not?

·        Critically assess your own technical capabilities.
o   Did you capture the sound effectively?
o   Did you use the sound equipment effectively?
o   Did you correctly differentiate between diegetic and non-diegetic sound?
o   Did you demonstrate the difference between on and off-screen sound?
o   Did you show the difference between parallel and contrapuntal sound?
o   Did you effectively use a sound-bridge?

·        Overall
o   What are the most positive elements of your film what did you do well?
o   How would you make improvements?
